An Online, Global, Open Space conversation Hosted by the Healthy Power Alliance
February 22nd
3pm London time/ 10am New York / 7am Seattle / 8pm New Delhi
The Global Challenges Foundation is launching the ‘Global Challenges Prize 2017: A New Shape’ in order to spark a global conversation and inspire fresh thinking about how to design a governance model able to effectively address the most pressing threats and risks to humanity. Catastrophic climate change, weapons of mass destruction, extreme poverty: the threats we face as a global community threaten our very survival. The challenge is to design a framework for the global community to make decisions and act together effectively on matters of great common importance.
The Healthy Power Alliance is convening academics, governance experts, politicians, activists, and anyone who has expertise and will to create a new approach, to come together for part of the day on the 22nd of February. We will be convening online, in digital space, to tackle this theme as an international consortium, using dialogue processes in an Open Space format.
We will be creating a proposal for upgrading or replacing the UN with a system that can organize humanity to re-shape the way we collaborate, the way we make decisions about challenges that affect everyone, everywhere, and the way we shape our responses to risks that threaten our world. Our proposal must be realistic. It must have a path toward adoption. It must be far better than our current systems.
While our team will take full responsibility for our final submission, we invite you to help us launch our effort by bringing your knowledge and resources to share. Perhaps you will join our team in developing solutions and collaborating on the submission throughout. By participating on the 22nd of February, however, you commit only to connect and learn as much as you can. You are welcome to use the work we do together for any purpose, including filing your own Global Challenges Foundation Prize submission (make sure you register by Feb 15)!
If you want to join us on the 22nd of February, or if you believe you would be a valuable contributor to our effort, please contact Nathaniel Whitestone of the Healthy Power Alliance: [email protected]
