Objections Play-shop Series

offered by the Regenerative Governance Project

A Safe Play-space to Practice

For people who are already working with consent-based decision-making, and want to get more skillful, more grounded, and more at ease with objections when things get hard.

We’ve designed a playful space where we’ll practice in good company. We’ll gain experience we can draw on in our real life situations, without the pressure of tight deadlines or high-impact consequences.

We’ll try things. We’ll notice our reactions. We’ll even laugh at ourselves a little. And you’ll leave with experience you can take back to the work and communities you value.

A human figure on the right has hands on hips and an irritated expression. A red x in a circle inside a talk bubble hovers over their head indicating they have an objections. On the left a human figure has they're hand to their ear as if listening.

What do you do when objections get hard?

Our learned patterns don’t disappear just because we’ve adopted new frameworks.

We want to practice in alignment with liberatory values, but deadlines, limited capacity, and urgency create real pressure to shortcut the process.

Even if we’ve learned practices and processes for consent-based decision-making, we can still find ourselves in freeze, fight, or withdraw when objections arise under conditions of stress or uncertainty or when group culture may not yet support objections arising safely.

Sound familiar? You’re in good company.

These days, people often find themselves avoiding disagreement. Maybe you feel reluctant to bring proposals sometimes. Or you’re worried about encountering resistance if others share the risks they’re sensing. It’s natural to want to avoid discomfort.

And yet this is precisely the moment that asks us to lean in with curiosity.
Imagine walking into a hard conversation and feeling curious about the objections instead of dreading them.

What you’ll learn

Objections are treasure. They reveal what matters, what’s been missed, what needs care. With practice, we can learn to receive them with genuine curiosity

You’ll leave with:

  • Greater skill and discernment with objections and disagreement in shared decision-making
  • More willingness, openness, and appreciation for objections — and an ability to sense the creative opportunity they offer
  • Practices for building the group culture where objections can actually arise — where people trust that what matters to them matters to others

Costs

We use a sliding scale so that price is less of a barrier to participation.
Please choose the tier that honestly reflects your current resources — your self-assessment is welcome and trusted here.

$300 — Sustaining rate

You’re well-resourced, or your organization is covering the cost. Paying at this level helps make the series accessible to others. We’re grateful for your generosity.

$180 — Standard rate

You have a steady income and can meet your basic needs, though you may not have a lot of extra margin. This is the rate that reflects the full cost of the offering.

$75 — Community rate

You’re navigating financial constraints — maybe you’re between roles, doing movement work without institutional backing, or working in an underfunded organization. We want you in the room.
